Redondo Beach is a sunny, friendly beach town that’s been a popular resort destination for more than a hundred and twenty-five years.
But we’ve come a long way from when LA’s famous Red Cars brought weekend visitors to stay in the grand Hotel Redondo and search for moonstones on the beach. These days, Redondo is still operates at a beachy pace, but has become one of the most desirable areas to live in the entire country. With a performing arts center, more than a dozen parks, and a full service recreational and commercial harbor including King Harbor, private boat slips, a pier facility featuring fishing opportunities, restaurants, hotels and shops, and the Seaside Lagoon, a family-friendly bathing and swimming beach, Redondo Beach offers absolutely everything you could desire in leisure activities. Redondo Beach’s award-winning schools are also a significant factor in its desirability to young families looking to raise their children in a safe, superior environment. Redondo Beach features the South Bay Galleria mall at its northern end and the cozy, eclectic Rivera Village at its southwestern end. Just one block from the beach, the Village, as it’s called locally, features winding streets filled with specialty shops, restaurants, small grocers, personal services and, each Sunday, a sprawling Farmer’s Market. The village is also the place where the Strand, a 22-mile bike path begins. Intrepid bikers can ride all the way to Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades on this path as they wind along some of the most gorgeous beaches in Southern California.
